Holy Thursday Pilgrimage to Seven Churches set in Dutchess and Ulster Counties. Hudson Valley pilgrims will have the opportunity to make a pilgrimage to seven churches in Dutchess and Ulster counties on Holy Thursday, April 18th. Eighteen churches in Dutchess County and 17 in Ulster County will have their doors open for his event that begins with Mass at each site. Pilgrims should attend Mass of the Lord’s Supper at their parish church before visiting other churches. Pamphlets will be available at the participating churches in Dutchess and Ulster counties on the fifth Sunday of Lent (April 4) and Palm Sunday (April 11). The pamphlets will include Mass times, altar of repose location and the time altars will close at each location. The selfdirected pilgrimage usually takes about three hours. The pilgrimage, now in its eighth year, is a revival of a devotion that was popular in the middle of the 20th century. St. Philip Neri originated the pilgrimage in the 16th century with visits to the seven Roman basilicas.
